CWV Post 386 Scholarship Awards


2017

Sacred Heart School in Newburgh held its 8th Grade Graduation Mass and Ceremony on June 14th. It was held at the St. Joseph School in New Windsor, due to the renovations being done at the Sacred Heart School building.
In addition to the presentation of diplomas, the students were recognized for their academic and athletic achievements during the year. Post 386 was on hand to present Frank DeMaro III with a $500 scholarship for his outstanding essay, “What America Means to Me”.
Frank’s father is an Air Force Veteran and his grandfather is a Veteran of the U.S. Marines. Frank will attend John S. Burke High School in the fall. Frank is pictured here with Post 386 Cmdr. Robert Schiela, 3rd Vice Cmdr. George Reilly, Welfare Officer Joe Coyle and Treasurer Jack D’Angelo. Below, Frank is pictured with his proud family and Post 386 Officers. 2016

Jake Pagano, a 2016 graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School is this year’s recipient of our Post 386 Scholarship Award.  He won our May essay contest entitled “What it Means to be an American”, and won several other awards and honors from the school.  Jake will attend Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie this fall.  He is the grandson of a Vietnam Army Veteran.  He and his family are parishioners of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Newburgh.  Congratulations Jake, and the best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

2015

This year we awarded three scholarships to local Catholic School students.  One from the
Sacred Heart School in Newburgh, one from Bishop Dunn School on the campus of Mount Saint Mary College and one from the San Miguel Academy of Newburgh.

Alex Figueroa from the San Miguel Academy will go on to attend Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic High School in Poughkeepsie in the fall.  From the Bishop Dunn School, the scholarship was awarded to Isley Gebman.  She will go on to attend Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, NY.  And from the Sacred Heart School, the award was presented to Dylan Henjum who will go to Our Lady of Lourdes.
